The slopes connecting the terrace to the plateau and constituting the hillside bear vines that enjoy an excellent south-facing prospect. The area is known as the tufa zone, consisting of a clayey-limestone soil and underlying calcarenitic chalk. These terroirs produce more full-bodied wines with silky tannins that keep longer.
